BOTOX

Though our practice treats eye conditions, we can also enhance the aesthetics of your eyes by smoothing the wrinkles around them.

BOTOX® Cosmetic can relax the muscles to smooth the skin around your eyes for a more youthful appearance.

Monterey County Eye Associates offer BOTOX treatments to help Monterey, CA, patients reverse facial signs of aging.

Smooth Skin Around the Eyes With BOTOX Cosmetic

While BOTOX can treat certain medical conditions, our Monterey offices use BOTOX Cosmetic for facial enhancement purposes. We can use BOTOX Cosmetic to treat moderate-to-severe wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles. BOTOX is a type of botulinum toxin that relaxes muscle movement and is not a permanent cosmetic procedure. Though BOTOX can be used in areas across the face, we primarily inject BOTOX Cosmetic into the eye area for our patients.

Awaken Your Appearance Benefits of BOTOX

Non-Invasive

BOTOX is a non-invasive procedure that is virtually painless, thanks to a topical anesthetic applied before the injections. Since the procedure is non-invasive, there is no recovery time, but you may experience mild symptoms after your treatment. To avoid excessive swelling and bruising, refrain from strenuous activity for about 24 hours, but you can return to non-strenuous activities immediately after your appointment.

Quick Procedure

The botulinum toxin procedure itself only takes about 10 minutes, though treatment times depend on the location and the number of injection sites. We primarily perform BOTOX injections around the eye area, which can often be completed in a short period of time.

Fast Results

You don't have to wait long to see the results of the botulinum toxin. Effects are noticeable in as little as 24 to 48 hours after your appointment. The full extent of your results will be visible within 30 days and the results last around four to six months. BOTOX is not a permanent treatment, but you can receive touch-up treatments at regular intervals.

Highly recommend Dr Caputo if you need your vision checked for glasses. Both my husband and I have seen her, & we've been extremely pleased with the quality of medical care she provides. She also has a great "bedside manner."

Dr Dautremont and her staff were amazing. I get really nervous in general and even more so in public places but she was very understanding. She had a few students helping her and you could tell they’re going to be just as good as Dr Dautremont.

Candidates for BOTOX

Of Age

Young adults may wish to begin BOTOX before wrinkles appear to prevent them from forming in the future. The FDA requires patients to be at least 18 years old to receive BOTOX injections.

In Good Health

Before receiving BOTOX injections, you should be in good health to help ensure your skin will heal properly after BOTOX. The skin around the eyes should be free of infection and open wounds.

Have Realistic Expectations

Patients must have realistic expectations for the results. BOTOX will not dramatically change the structure of your face like some cosmetic surgery procedures. It is a temporary procedure that will smooth your skin for up to six months.

Not Pregnant

The FDA considers BOTOX to be a Category C drug during pregnancy. Not enough research has been conducted to evaluate the effects of BOTOX when pregnant, so pregnant patients should wait before undergoing treatment to be safe.

Approved by the FDA Request a Consultation to Learn More

Though BOTOX was approved for certain medical conditions in 1989, BOTOX Cosmetic was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 for cosmetic purposes. Our talented team is proud to offer this solution to patients who want to enhance the appearance of their eyes and achieve a more youthful aesthetic. Call to request a consultation at one of our Monterey offices and see what BOTOX can do for you.

The Speedy Process of Receiving BOTOX

If you're a good candidate for BOTOX, we may offer the injections on the same day as your consultation.
If you're a good candidate for BOTOX, we may offer the injections on the same day as your consultation.

Consulting With Our Team

One of our highly trained team members will meet with you for an initial consultation at one of our Monterey offices. Here, we will observe your facial muscles while they are active and resting. This way, we can identify the precise locations to inject the BOTOX and how much product is ideal for your needs.

Numbing the Injection Site

If you're a good candidate for BOTOX, we may offer the injections on the same day as your consultation. BOTOX injections can be less painful than receiving a shot at the doctor's office. That's thanks to our topical anesthetic cream that numbs the surface area where the injection is administered.

Injecting the Muscles

Our team will inject the botulinum toxin into the desired areas to reduce muscle movement. The team member may gently massage the injection site to ensure the product is evenly spread throughout the area.

Leaving Our Office

No bandages are required following BOTOX treatment. You can leave our office right after your short procedure and return to non-strenuous activities right away.

Following Aftercare Instructions

To ensure you get the most out of your injections and lower the chances of bruising and swelling, avoid alcohol and exercise for 24 hours after treatment and avoid touching your face to keep the botulinum toxin from migrating to other areas.

BOTOX vs. Dysport and XEOMIN

BOTOX isn't the only botulinum toxin product for cosmetic use. XEOMIN® and Dysport® are also botulinum toxin products that work similarly to BOTOX. However, a few differences separate each product. Our office uses BOTOX over competitors for many reasons:

Longest FDA Approval

BOTOX Cosmetic was the first botulinum toxin product to be approved by the FDA for the treatment of aesthetic concerns rather than medical conditions. BOTOX Cosmetic was approved in 2002, while Dysport was approved in 2009 and XEOMIN was approved in 2010.

Quickest Results

BOTOX Cosmetic is reported to give patients the fastest results out of all three products. With BOTOX, effects can be seen as early as 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Dysport can take about two to four days and XEOMIN takes three to four.

Ideal Cosmetic Use

Patients often ask for BOTOX at our office to correct deeper, smaller wrinkles around the eyes, which BOTOX is ideal for treating. Dysport, on the other hand, is ideal for large areas, such as frown lines and forehead lines because the formula spreads faster.
