The eyes, as some of the most important and delicate organs of the body, require very careful and well-chosen treatments whenever problems arise. Those treatments, as well as regular preventative check-ups, are most effective when administered by trained, experienced specialists. If you are looking for an ophthalmologist in the Monterey and Salinas area, consider seeing one of the four doctors — Roger C. Husted, M.D.; Leland H. Rosenblum, M.D.; Philip J. Penrose, M.D.; and Eric J. Del Piero, M.D.
Roger C. Husted, M.D.Roger C. Husted, M.D. has been active on the Monterey Peninsula since 1975. He was Chief of Ophthalmology at the Fort Ord U.S. Army Post until 1990, and has been in private practice as an ophthalmologist in Monterey since that time. His work in Salinas began in 1998.
Dr. Husted grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, attended the University of California and Brigham Young University as an undergraduate and received his M.D. degree at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He undertook his ophthalmology residency at Letterman Army Medical Center and then a fellowship in retina treatment at California Pacific Medical Center.
He continues to teach as an associate clinical professor at California Pacific Medical Center and at Natividad Medical Center as a UCSF associate clinical professor. He is also an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, which certifies ophthalmologists in order to raise the nation’s quality of eye care.
In his ophthalmology practice at Monterey Bay Eye Center, Dr. Husted’s interests include small incision cataract surgery, glaucoma, retina care, diabetes, oculoplastic surgery and refractive surgery.
